Star Student September 2020: Tobias Main

Personal Tutor: Pat

So far I’ve studied AAT’s L2 and L3 with AL, and have continued onto the L4 qualification having Pat as my tutor again. I have been studying the qualifications for some time and have had a few set backs here and there, as well as juggling a full time career; I can only say thank you to Pat and the team at AL, throughout my time with them I’ve never had a problem and have always found it very easy to get in touch which has always been met with an excellent response for any of my queries. AL have been flexible in their approach to anything I’ve thrown at them, I would certainly say if anybody is struggling perseverance is key, but also don’t forget to ask questions or for support as I know it will always be well addressed by your tutor or the team. I also want to take the opportunity to thank Pat for all the help and support so far, and to wish her the best of luck in seeing me through L4!

I was first asked to help Toby back in 2017 when he was a Basic student who had difficulty passing BKCL. He successfully completed L2 and moved on to L3 in February 2018. For some time Toby’s progress was slow and sporadic but he always kept going. At the end of 2019 he was found to have a previously undiagnosed medical condition and with medication there has been a complete transformation. Even as his distance learning tutor, seeing just emails and work for marking, the change in him was obvious and it is no exaggeration to say that it has changed his life. He has worked steadily through the Level 3 course and has now achieved a Merit overall. What has impressed me throughout is his commitment and determination. He has kept going despite some difficult times and I am delighted that he has achieved such a good result in the Advanced Diploma. Toby is fully aware of time lost during his studies so while he was unable to sit his two last L3 exams during lockdown, he enrolled on the L4 and is nearly ready to take FSLC. The standard of his L4 work to date has been very good. He is very definitely a Star Student.
