Since moving to Accountancy Learning from another training provider midway through my AAT Level 3 studies, I can honestly say the experience has been amazing. My tutor Kathryn has been incredibly supportive throughout, helping me settle into the course and encouraging me as I continue my journey through AAT.

Coming from a farming background, I have always been used to the ‘hard working’ attitude and taking on responsibility from a young age. Those values have helped me stay determined and committed to my studies while balancing work and learning. I am lucky enough to be part of a group called Yarcombe Young Farmers which involves raising large amount of money to go towards meaningful charities that are close to our hearts.

Having such a supportive tutor, alongside the encouragement from my workplace, has really helped me grow in confidence and push myself further, both within work and also within day to day life. I feel very fortunate to have access to such a strong support network both within work and through Accountancy Learning, and it has motivated me to keep developing my knowledge and skills as I progress in my career in accountancy.

Izzy started her Level 3 Apprenticeship at college and due to her wanting to progress without the restrictions of term time only study transferred to Accountancy Learning for her last unit of the Level 3 and her EPA. Izzy is now studying for her AAT Level 4 Apprenticeship whilst working at Mitchells Accountants in Taunton and took the month of January to support the practice as they have been short staffed. A few weeks into her Level 4 and Izzy is already finding the content for the Business Tax unit useful and relevant to her job role. Mitchells’ task their staff in publishing articles to advise their clients with Izzy asked to provide a client briefing for Linked In, Facebook and the company website on Capital Allowances. Not only has this helped Izzy to understand the working application but also embedded the information for her own knowledge for this unit. Izzy is the Treasurer for her local Young Farmer Club which has around 80 members. At the weekend there was a Young Farmers Tractor Run which had around 115 tractors following a two hour route to fundraise for charity. This year the charities are Young Lives v Cancer and Rabi which is a farmers charity providing mental health and wellbeing support, farming can be a very lonely and stressful occupation with young people working in remote areas so this is a valuable way to look after young people in their trade. Izzy’s Young Farmer’s club are looking to raise £10,000 for both of these charities this year. Izzy as well as managing the money arranges accommodation and plans for the various activities run as a branch which takes up a considerable amount of time in this voluntary role. Izzy is from a farming background but never saw herself in the occupation herself and loves what she does working to support the farming community both in her professional and personal life.
