Marion Watson

AAT Tutor

I grew up in Vienna, where I studied Modern Foreign Languages and worked as a teacher for several years, before a mighty south-easterly blew me across the Channel and all the way to Devon.

After the initial culture shock (the taps still baffle me 😊) and a stint in retail, I began with reinventing myself in this new environment. Over the next few years, I got married and welcomed my little boy, then gained a PGCE from Exeter University and worked as a supply teacher. However, I realised that I needed a new challenge…

When I came across Accountancy Learning, quite by chance, I instantly felt this was significant. I came in for a chat about the courses and enrolled on the spot. Then, being a passionate believer in education and lifelong learning, I put everything into my studies. After three exams, I was offered a job in the finance department.

Working with Dale, I gained valuable experience with the Sales and Purchases ledger, with reconciliations, Credit control, the Petty Cash and our analytic reviews of the monthly accounts. We also navigated lots of changes in the business, the COVID pandemic, the AAT syllabus change and the transition from QuickBooks to Xero.

At long last, I achieved my MAAT qualification in 2025 and interviewed for a tutor position in 2026.  I am excited to put my varied experience of teaching and studying to good use and to support our learners with their AAT journey.

My Motto:

This encourages me to pursue my dreams and not allow setbacks to limit my aspirations. You too can rise above life’s challenges and achieve success!
