BSc, ACA, MAAT

AAT Tutor

After studying Psychology at university and graduating in 2008 I went on to work as a researcher for a charity before starting my work and studying in accountancy in 2011. I trained initially for my AAT Level 2 with Cornwall College whilst working for two start up companies as a bookkeeper/ finance officer but when I started working in practice in 2013, I started studying with Accountancy Learning with Simon as my tutor! I continued working in practice, gaining my AAT and ACA qualifications, and working on audits, accounts prep, management accounts and tax as well as mentoring junior staff up until 2020.

Since then, I’ve worked as a trainer helping people in Cornwall start their own businesses which I really enjoyed and got to meet a lot of interesting and motivated people but missed more of the technical accounting side where my passion really lies.

What interests me about working with Accountancy Learning is that I can help others gain the practical skills and qualifications to work in the accountancy profession whilst working with a great bunch of people in an environment where I’m constantly learning and being challenged.

I have a little boy who has just started school and who keeps me busy outside of work (yes I had him part way through my ACA studies but who doesn’t like a challenge!), alongside helping my husband with his business. I currently work part time hours over 5 days and run the Falmouth Drop In session on a Friday.
