Star Student February 2020: Ross White

Personal Tutor: Ros

While working in retail I started my AAT studies at level 2 in September 2015, which lead to me becoming employed by Bennett Jones & Co at Bodmin in May 2017.

After successfully completing AAT level 4 in November 2018, I was determined to continue my training and career development by studying for the ACA qualification. As I researched the various learning providers, it became clear to me that Accountancy Learning offered a more personalised and local service than any of the other providers.

I started the ICAEW level 7 apprenticeship in August 2019 and was very pleased at the end of September to pass my first exam, the certificate level Law module. I am enjoying my ACA studies so far and am pleased that by following a set plan I have been able to study effectively and maintain a healthy life/study balance. I have been delighted with the expert level of tuition and thorough support offered by the Accountancy Learning team.

Ross has been with Bennett Jones and Co since May 2017 specialising in tax. He prepares tax returns for individuals and partnerships and provides tax planning advice. His favourite part of his job is solving problems which ultimately help his clients. He has a passion for Excel. He studied AAT levels 2, 3 and 4 before moving onto his ACA level 7 apprenticeship. He is part of Accountancy Learning’s first cohort of level 7 apprentices who started in August 2019. Having studied AAT they are exempt from four of the certificate level papers so their first topic was Law which was very new for all of them. I would like to nominate Ross for our Star Student because he is the first of our level 7 apprentices to pass one of their exams, scoring 72%, a great achievement given he had never studied law before. He has also passed Assurance with 84%, again, another great result for someone with no audit experience. He has shown great effort to pass these exam which is one of the three exams he is studying for this autumn.
