Star Student April 2020: George Shurley

Personal Tutor: Jade

I started studying AAT a year and a half ago, immediately after finishing college. I didn’t know what I wanted to do but a teacher of mine suggested accounting, so I did some research. The overall concept and wide range of career opportunities were two attractive features that stood out to me. I started off studying the Level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping before beginning studying for the Level 3 AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting which I am happy to say that I recently completed with an overall score of 86% which equates to a Merit. I am very grateful for all the assistance provided to me by Accountancy Leaning throughout my studies so far and look forward to moving onto studying the Level 4 AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting with them in the near future.

George enrolled as an Advanced Accounting Apprentice with us in December 2018 and has made consistently great progress with his studies, achieving many very high marks in his formal assessments. George attended drop in sessions every week and was an absolute pleasure to have – as well as being a very polite and friendly young man he was also very enthusiastic to help his peers with their learning where possible. During the course of his apprenticeship, George decided to take a leap and relocated over 150 miles away for a more senior role in a completely different industry, thus demonstrating his strong ambition. I’m extremely proud of George’s passion and determination and look forward to seeing him complete his L4 qualification in the coming months.
