Although I was born in Reading, the South West has been home for most of my life. My family’s roots in Plymouth go back generations, and that sense of belonging has shaped who I am and has created a passion for the place and people in it.
I started studying accountancy at 18 and have not looked back since. It has so many applications and I have been able to apply my knowledge in my work, and in my personal life. Since then, my career has progressed through a variety of roles, from running my own bookkeeping practice in Taunton, working for large corporations in finance, to teaching AAT at colleges, and degree programs including Accountancy and Finance modules at the University of Plymouth.
Outside of work, life is a little more chaotic — in the best possible way. My two mad border collies and my partner, keep me on my toes and get me out exploring the countryside, and I love travelling whenever I can, discovering new places. I was fortunate enough to teach accountancy in Sri Lanka in 2024, which was both exciting and rewarding, and fulfilled another long time goal of mine.
