We’re incredibly proud to share that Accountancy Learning has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards at this year’s Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Awards, which will be announced at the AAT Training Provider Conference in March.

We’ve been shortlisted for:

🏆 AAT Distance Learning Training Provider of the Year
🏆 AAT Inclusive Provider of the Year

To be recognised in either of these categories would be an honour. To be shortlisted for both feels especially meaningful, because together they reflect what matters most to us: high-quality learning, genuine human support, and an inclusive environment where every learner is treated as an individual.

Above all, this recognition belongs to our students. Their trust, commitment and determination are what drive everything we do. We’re also grateful to AAT for recognising the work that often happens quietly behind the scenes — the care, flexibility and persistence that underpin successful learning journeys.

Putting People First — Always

At Accountancy Learning, support is never an “add-on”. It’s built into how we work.

Every student is assigned a personal tutor who supports them across subjects and levels, adapting learning plans around work, family life and personal circumstances. Support is offered in whatever format works best for the learner — MS Teams, phone, email or text — and students regularly tell us how much they value both the flexibility and the human connection this creates.

That support often goes beyond technical tuition. Tutors check in, encourage, and stay alongside students during challenging periods. One learner shared how her tutor continued to believe in her during personal difficulties, helping her stay motivated when confidence was low. Another described how a tutor travelled over an hour to deliver a one-to-one session that transformed a previous exam fail into an 80% pass. These moments aren’t exceptions — they’re part of our culture.

The same people-first approach applies to our staff. Flexible working patterns, hybrid roles and wellbeing-led adjustments help us retain experienced, passionate tutors. We actively encourage progression, with several team members moving from student to tutor, into senior and leadership roles. A connected, supported team creates better outcomes for learners — and we’re proud of the environment we’ve built together.

A Truly Inclusive Learning Environment

Being shortlisted for AAT Inclusive Provider of the Year reflects our long-standing commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion — not as a tick-box exercise, but as a practical, learner-centred approach.

From onboarding onwards, learners complete comprehensive assessments that help us understand their strengths, preferences and support needs. This allows tutors to tailor programmes using assistive technology, adapted sequencing, specialist software, wellbeing coaching and study-skills support where appropriate. Adjustments such as additional exam time, alternative materials or revised study schedules are made proactively, helping to remove barriers before they become obstacles.

We work closely with learners with neurodiverse profiles including ADHD, autism and dyslexia, as well as those studying in additional languages or balancing complex work and home commitments. In many cases, this support extends into the workplace, where we collaborate with employers to encourage inclusive practices that benefit both learner and organisation.

Beyond our enrolled learners, we’re proud to deliver a fully funded Bookkeeping and Digital Skills Bootcamp designed to support self-employed adults, business owners and those looking to upskill — including NEETs and learners based in remote locations.

We’re delighted that our current cohort has achieved a 100% retention rate, with several learners now planning to progress onto an AAT qualification.

Innovation Through Challenge

Like many providers, we’ve navigated a challenging economic and social landscape. Rising costs, employer pressures and learner wellbeing concerns required us to adapt without compromising quality.

Rather than reducing support or cutting corners, we focused on adding value. This included creating over 200 AAT Sample Assessment Walk-Through videos, breaking down exam tasks step by step. These resources have been widely praised by students and have reached thousands of learners beyond our own cohort, significantly boosting confidence and exam readiness.

We’ve also invested heavily in developing our Virtual Learning Environment, with tutors themselves leading improvements to accessibility, structure and learner experience — ensuring our platforms work for students, not the other way around.

What This Shortlisting Means to Us

These shortlists reflect what we strive for every day:

✔ high-quality outcomes
✔ inclusive, individualised support
✔ a warm, responsive learning environment

They reaffirm that focusing on people — learners and staff alike — truly matters.

If you’d like to learn more about AAT qualifications, you can explore them via the official AAT website: https://www.aat.org.uk

And if you’re considering your own accountancy journey, whether through Distance Learning or an Apprenticeship, we’d love to help. Please feel free to contact us to talk through your options and see what might work best for you.

Whatever the outcome in March, we’re incredibly proud of our students, our team, and the community we’ve built — and we’ll keep doing what we do best: supporting people to succeed.
