What is a Skills Bootcamp?
Skills Bootcamps are part of the Government’s Skills for Life programme — short, flexible training courses designed with employers to fill skills gaps and prepare adults for real career opportunities.
Our 12-week Bookkeeping & Digital Skills for Accountancy Skills Bootcamp is funded by Cornwall Council and open to Cornwall residents aged 19+. Developed with local employers, it blends practical accountancy training, digital finance skills, and employability support — with a guaranteed interview at the end.

Our 12-week programme blends practical bookkeeping, software training and career development –
giving you not only the technical knowledge, but also the skills and confidence to succeed in the workplace. You’ll cover:
Bookkeeping Principles
Double-entry, reconciliations, financial processes
Accounting Software
Full Xero Advisor Certification included
Documents & VAT
Invoices, credit control, compliance essentials
Excel & Digital Skills
Spreadsheets and real-time dashboards for finance

How Is It Delivered?
Our Skills Bootcamp offers both in-person and online options, so you can choose the format that works best for you.
We offer two flexible learning routes:
Classroom-based
One day per week for 12 weeks, in Truro, Cornwall for Cornwall residents.
Online, tutor-led
One day per week for 12 weeks. Interactive sessions with full tutor support.
Both routes include:

7 hours per week across 12 weeks

Workbooks, online tools, and practice tasks

Where Will It Be Delivered?
Our Skills Bootcamp offers both in-person and online options, so you can choose the format that works best for you.
In-Person Delivery
Location: Truro, Cornwall
Schedule: The Skills Bootcamp runs one day per week for 12 weeks, from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
Getting there: Truro is well served by public transport and has a range of nearby car parks, making it easy to reach whether you’re travelling by bus, train, or car.
Resources: We’ll provide learners with access to PCs, course materials, WiFi, and light refreshments.
Online Delivery
Schedule: Starts in early October. Sessions held once per week, 9:00am – 4:00pm (day to be confirmed).
Learning: Delivered live by tutors, with interactive sessions and full support.
Resources: For online learners, we’ll provide all the course materials you need to study confidently from home.
What Does It Cost?
Most individual learners won’t pay anything.
Unemployed, OR self-employed?
FREE (fully funded by Government)
Employers with under 250 staff
contribute just 10% of course cost (£308.70)
Employers with 250+ staff
contribute only 30% of course cost (926.10)
Progression & Career Outcomes
On completion, you’ll be guaranteed an interview, achieve industry-recognised certifications (including Xero Advisor Certification), and be well prepared to move into AAT qualifications, apprenticeships, or higher-level finance training. Many learners progress into:
