Re-commencement of AAT exams!

AAT Exams are back!

Following on from the AATs announcement about the re-commencement of exams with effect from 29 June 2020, we are delighted to announce that we will be making exam sittings available at each of our assessment venues as of that date. As we are sure you will understand, assessments will be offered at a restricted level in order to comply with the government’s social distancing and safe working guidelines.

Prioritisation of Exam Bookings

Prior to lockdown, many students had already booked in to sit their assessments but these subsequently had to be cancelled once we moved into lockdown. Our first priority therefore will be to ensure all those who had previously booked in, are able to sit their assessments first.

There were also a number of students who had planned to sit their assessments during the lockdown period but were obviously unable to, so they will be our 2nd priority.

Additionally, we will prioritising those students wishing to sit their synoptic exams – as you will have seen, the synoptic windows are as follows:

  • 6th – 10th July: Professional Synoptic window
  • 13th – 17th July: Professional and Advanced Synoptic window
  • 20th – 24th July: Advanced Synoptic window

To cope with the likely huge demand, we are planning to run extra exam sittings in all of our exam venues, as follows:

Exeter Venue:
  • For the first 2-3 weeks, we will be running exam sittings Monday-Friday (3 sittings per day, at: 9.30, 1.30 and 4.30). The 4.30pm exam sitting will be restricted to Foundation (L2) exams only.
We will be reducing the number of students able to sit assessments per sitting from the usual 6 students to 4 students.
Plymouth Venue:
  • For the first 2-3 weeks, we will be running 2 exam sittings per day (at 9.30 and 1.30). We will be reducing the number of students able to sit exams per sitting from the usual 8 students to 5 students. The number of days offered per week will be dependent on demand. As we normally only run exams in Plymouth every other Monday, we anticipate there being more spare capacity in Plymouth than in Exeter.
Taunton Venue:
  • For the first 2-3 weeks, we will be running 2 exam sittings per day (at 9.30 and 1.30). We will be reducing the number of students able to sit exams per sitting from the usual 5 students to 3 students. The number of days offered per week will be dependent on demand.

We will shortly be conducting additional risk assessments in our exam venues and as mentioned previously, will implement strict social distancing and safe working measures.

What to do next:

If you are a Tutor Supported student, please get in touch with your tutor to discuss:

  • Which exam you would like to sit
  • Your preferred dates (give several options)
  • Your preferred exam venue (please state whether you could be flexible on your choice of venue)

If you are a Self-Study EXTRA package student, please email [email protected] to inform us about:

  • Which exam you would like to sit
  • Your preferred dates (give several options)
  • Your preferred exam venue (please state whether you could be flexible on your choice of venue)

Our online exam booking system will not be available for booking new assessments until after the July Synoptic windows and after we have cleared the backlog of assessments that were due to take place during March and April.

Please be aware that due to unprecedented circumstances, we will not be able to guarantee a preferred date and time for your exam booking.

If you have any specific safety concerns, then please discuss this with us. Just a reminder that remote invigilation will be available from August for those who are self-isolating or considered vulnerable.

N.B. We reserve the right to refuse access to any candidate that displays symptoms of Covid-19. At all times, we need to ensure the safety of both candidates and staff.

More details about our specific social distancing and safe working measures will be released soon.
