BA FCA

Director

I qualified with Thomson McLintock in 1981 and joined SWAT in 1984, subsequently becoming Director of Training……yes, thank you very much… I know I’m old!?!  Whilst at SWAT, I introduced AAT training and performed an MBO of this part of the business in 2001, subsequently establishing Accountancy Plus Training as one of the largest providers of AAT training in the country and the first (of only two providers in the country) to achieve Certification in the Training Quality Standard, with Excellence in Accounting.

Since the sale of the taught courses part of the business at the end of 2011, we are now focussing on building up our distance learning provision, and want to combine the use of engaging and interactive learning materials with a supportive and caring, personal service to our learners.

I have been keen promoter of all professional accountancy qualifications in the South West and am an active member of the South Western Society of Chartered Accountants, having been their President in 2006/07.

My hair is too long (but then, most of my friends no longer have any) and I sometimes look like I have been dragged through a hedge backwards. Although I like gardening, my hedge at home looks like it might have been that very hedge!

My Motto:

“People retire to do what they enjoy but if you enjoy what you do, why retire!”
