Consultancy Support

Simon is an FCA and joined SWAT in 1984 and was their Director of Training until becoming MD of SWAT Training in 1998 and subsequently Accountancy Plus Training, after undertaking an MBO in 2002. By 2011 the company was delivering AAT training and apprenticeships to over 500 students.

Prue is an FMAAT and has been developing learning materials since 2002. She has a CertEd and a Masters in Educational Research. She has been involved in numerous projects on e-learning and differentiation, including those run by the DfES Standards Fund, CEL, LSIS, BECTA and she presented at the CEL eXplorer National Conference on our learning materials developments. She was also involved in the SW CETT. In addition, we were showcased on the Excellence Gateway for our use of Moodle and lead a successful bid for funding the development of on-line learning across the Devon & Cornwall Training Provider Network.

We have been involved with delivering AAT training since 1992/93 and sat on the AAT’s Education & Training Implementation Group that oversaw the transition from the previous qualification structure to the current NVQ/Diploma structure that has underpinned its success as the lead accounting qualification for Apprenticeships in Accounting.

Our team were one of only two providers in the country to achieve Certification in the Training Quality Standard with Excellence in Accounting, and we were the first. The second was Halesowen College.

We were both one of only 6 Centres of Vocational Excellence in Accounting and knew each other well, having met regularly at CoVE events and at the annual AAT conferences. Rather than be jealous of our accolade we were delighted to support Halesowen in their own application, including a day’s consultancy when they visited us in our South West lair for guidance and input into their successful bid.

In 2012 we sold our main classroom training business to the local college in order to focus on developing distance learning courses, underpinned by our development and use of e-learning as well as our very personal approach to providing tutor support. We are now assisted by three other AAT tutors, Jenna Mayne (who also has a BSc degree in Business Economics and Accounting), Neil Montgomery (who also has a Masters Degree) and Emma Bass (who has also just started her ACA training).

We don’t mean to blow our own trumpet, but if you are looking for consultancy support in the development or delivery of the AAT qualification and associated learning and teaching, then we felt it important to show that we have some track record in this. Been there, done that.

If you are an existing college or provider and are:

  • Considering commencing the delivery of the AAT qualification, or
  • Altering your existing delivery model, or
  • You are considering establishing yourself as a new AAT provider,

then do call us on 01392 311925 to see if we can help.
